Compliance Updates, Mailing Solutions & Default Servicing Conversations

As I write this, we’re just returning from the MBA Servicing Solutions Conference in Dallas, where, as you’d expect, the major topics of discussion were M&A activity, industry consolidation, and how the servicing environment is continuing to evolve. More on those MBA Servicing topics in next month’s issue….

This month, we’re focused on helping you navigate the changing compliance landscape. Jennifer Keys shares a timely compliance update outlining how servicers can stay ahead of evolving regulatory expectations, particularly as state-level scrutiny intensifies. Additionally, we discuss Covius Print-Ready Services’ compliant mailing solutions for the recent USPS Certified Mail change – a change that could have downstream effects on some mortgage servicing communications.

We’re also looking ahead to NADP’s Annual Summit, where Chris Link and Jason Tufaro will join industry panels to discuss operational performance, risk mitigation, and what’s shaping today’s investor environment.

And finally, we’re proud to announce that Covius has once again been named a HousingWire Tech100 Mortgage winner…our eighth year in a row!

Navigating Evolving Servicer Risk

From evolving regulatory expectations to growing operational risk in servicing, the compliance landscape is changing fast. In this quickCompliance Update, Jennifer Keys, SVP of Covius Compliance Solutions, examines what’s shifting and how servicers can better prepare and prevent small issues from turning into bigger problems.

Covius Named a Tech100 Mortgage Winner

We’re proud to be recognized as one of the most influential technology companies in the mortgage industry by HousingWire. This recognition marks the eighth consecutive year on the industry’s most respected list of innovative technology providers and reflects the strength of our teams and our tech-enabled solutions. We’re honored to be recognized and even more grateful for the trust our clients place in us every day.

Covius Print-Ready Services Helps Clients Achieve Certified Mail Compliance

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service reported a 1,500% surge in suspected counterfeit postage from April through August 2025. As part of their effort to reduce the occurrence of counterfeit mailings, the USPS® implemented new security requirements for Certified MailTMtracking numbers generated by approved mail service providers.

Providers must now submit recipient and postage information before letters enter the mail stream. To remain compliant, all pre-printed barcoded forms for Certified Mail have been effectively discontinued by providers. However, Covius Print‑Ready Services (CPRS) is providing solutions and helping clients avoid mailing disruptions by leveraging Certified Pro, which provides access to Certified Mail forms and envelopes, including a non‑barcoded alternative, that support mailing continuity during this USPS change.

The mortgage industry is one segment that could encounter challenges. Many mortgage servicing communications — such as default notices, loss‑mitigation notices, foreclosure correspondence and borrower‑rights disclosures — must meet strict federal, state and investor requirements. Certified Mail provides verifiable proof that these critical notices are sent, tracked and delivered in compliance with those legal and regulatory standards, and CPRS’ Certified Pro is ensuring access to compliant Certified Mail usage for the mortgage industry and beyond. Chadd Hird, Covius’ SVP of Document Production Solutions, shared, “This USPS change will affect industry users who traditionally leverage pre-printed barcodes in order to ensure recipient mailing information stays within their systems. However, without an alternative plan in place, some users may face operational challenges once their existing pre-barcoded inventory is depleted and they need Certified Mail sent at scale. Certified Pro from Covius Print-Ready Services provides solutions to those operational challenges.”

If your print and mail process is affected by this new requirement, contact our team to discuss the best transition option for your mailing operation.
